(The Hosting News) – The Keystone Initiative for Network Based Education and Research (KINBER), a non-profit membership organization devoted to fostering collaboration through technology, and Xand, the Northeast’s premier provider of cloud, colocation, and managed services, announced today the formation of a partnership program aimed at delivering enterprise-class technology infrastructure services across a non-profit membership base. The pilot program will offer on-net disaster recovery/managed backup and various cloud solutions.

The partnership is the first of its kind for KINBER, as Xand is the first commercial partner to deliver on-line services to the KINBER membership. The pilot will serve as a model for KINBER’s future alliances.

“By establishing this pilot, KINBER has tremendous opportunity to provide added value to its members in the research and education, healthcare, economic development, public media and library sectors by identifying and providing a broad range of desirable on-line services at affordable prices,” said Wendy Huntoon, KINBER Executive Director.

KINBER reviewed a short list of desired services suggested by the membership in a 2012 survey and worked to find a partner to pilot a program for on-net services in the areas of colocation, disaster recovery/managed backup and various cloud solutions.

On-net services are exchanged between organizations or between an organization and its satellite locations that are directly connected to KINBER’s next-generation broadband network, the Pennsylvania Research and Education Network, also known as PennREN. KINBER will be able to provide Xand’s services via PennREN at a relatively lower cost to its members.

“Xand is honored to forge this exciting partnership with the KINBER organization,” said Xand President and CEO Yatish Mishra. “This relationship allows Xand’s enterprise-class cloud platform, managed services, colocation and disaster recovery resources to be leveraged in a unique way for the non-profit community, and we’re looking forward to the opportunity KINBER’s program presents for technology collaboration in Pennsylvania and beyond.”

Xand owns and operates six data center facilities across the East Coast, including three in Pennsylvania. With over 500,000 square-feet of space under lease and a rich suite of managed services and disaster recovery options, the company has experienced strong demand for its service-oriented offerings over the last several years. With the new pilot program, KINBER will have access to Xand’s proven portfolio of resources to aid their member network in solving complex IT infrastructure challenges today and into the future.
